Adeptus Titanicus: The Horus Heresy is a strategic tabletop wargame where players control powerful Titan during the Horus Heresy. It was released in 2018.[4]

This Adeptus Titanicus is not the first game by Games Workshop centered around Titans battling each other (see: Adeptus Titanicus (1988) and Titan legions (1994)), nor the first to use the title. Veteran players will notice that this is an entirely new game system rather than a simple re-release of previous rules. The developers have drawn inspiration from past games, blending old mechanics with new ones to create a system that will appeal to both seasoned players and newcomers.[4]

Gameplay

Adeptus Titanicus: The Horus Heresy is a based around combat between Battle Titans, you are the Princeps Seniores of a Titan maniple, taking control of a number of war engines and interfacing with your models via unique Command Terminals. The game is designed to make you feel like the commander, issuing orders and directing your God-Machines to grind down the enemy, popping void shields and damaging their systems before making a definitive killing blow. The game uses a system of alternating activations across distinct Movement, Combat, Damage Control and Stratagem phases.[3]

Three distinct ways to play are available :

  • Open play has few restrictions, allowing you to craft your own missions.[3]
  • Narrative play is story driven, using scenarios from the greatest battles of the Horus Heresy series[3]
  • matched play is designed for competitive games, utilising victory points and tactical objectives for balanced play.[3]

Specific rules are included for each Titan Legions, each with unique traits and wargear.[3]
