Qah

Qah, or He who Lingers, is the last active god belonging to Hrud pantheon of gods known as the Slah-haii or the "Most Ancient". Qah is said to have left the Hrud in Ancient History five hundred thousand years ago to attend to great works.[1a]

History

In the mythic past Qah lived with his fellow benevolent Slah-haii including a horned hunter, a red-handed figure, a laughing jester, and a hammer-weilding artisan. It was their intention that the Hrud bask in the sun and be fruitful.[1a]

Later the Slah-Haii entered a war against the Yaam-khoh or "Mirror Devils" which saw all Slah-haii either slain, crippled or forced to flee with the exception of Qah.[1a] Recognizing the danger posed to the Hrud, Qah changed the Hrud into a race of nocturnal scavengers.

About 500,000 years ago Qah is said to have dissapeared, telling the Hrud that he had to attend to other great works and that he would return at the time of "Raheed-skeh" when all Hrud tribes would come together with him for a final battle against Yaam-khoh.[1a]

Inquisitor Maturin Ralei noted similarities between the Hrud Slah-haii and the Eldar Gods suggesting the two pantheons might in fact be one [1a] more than suggesting that the war fought with the Yaam-khoh is in fact the War in Heaven.

Qah's title as "he who lingers" might be related to what is known of the Umbra who psychically impart the word "LINGER" as the last vision of their death-cry.[1b]

Trivia

Umbra

The connection between Qah and the Umbra is drawn primarily from their cogenesis in Xenology, but the similarities in stories and word choice suggest the two are connected. We know that the figure in the ancestral memory of the Umbra was an Old God who survived a war in heaven and fled into the warp for "tweaking and dabbling, poking and prodding" work [1b], it is likely the two are intended to be the same figure.

If that is the case, Umbra is in essence the corpse of the Hrud's dead god.
