Secta Mortis
The Secta Mortis were the elite Honour Guard of the Dark Angels Deathwing during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.[1]
They were composed of thirty legionnaires tasked to protect their Deathbringer, of which the three most senior of their number were counted amongst the Lord of the Deathwing’s chain of voted-successors, one of whom would immediately take over command of the Wing should their Lord ever be rendered incapable.[1]
The warriors of the Secta Mortis were marked out from the rest of their Deathwing brethren by the gilded helmets they wore, and were known to wield Terran-forged Jezzailli.[1] The Deathbringer's voted-successors were further denoted in their heraldry by an inverted heart-shaped besagew worn upon their left pauldron.[1]
